"Battle of the Mediocre DJs" - I didn't say it!

The Battle for Wednesday Night

VS.

Well, well, well.. What do we have here?
Clam Jammers has been dominating Wednesday night since the beginning of the semester.
There's no argument against that.
This is primarily because the same person(s) has been calling the shots on what bars go on each night of the week. And it's for that very reason that the bar nights around here become routine.

Now in efforts to break the mundane cycle, different individuals got behind Red Stripe in an effort to dip into the Wednesday night money honey pot. This isn't all that surprising because Red Stripe used to own Wednesday night's before they got into a bit of legal trouble in Spring 2010. Since they've reopened on Saturday nights, the turnout has been less than ideal.
So, this really shouldn't come as a surprise to many.

Luckily for us, we get to be the judges in this little competition.

In one corner, we have Clam Jammers, advertising $1 Tequila Shots in addition to their other drink specials. While Red Stripe spreads rumors they will be selling a cup at the door for free 'Gansett refills all night.

All in all, I feel like this is just the male version Facebook fighting
Just gunning for each-other's events, using drink specials and DJ line-ups as ammunition.

Leaving the question, Where will you go Wednesday Night?

Will you stay loyal to Clam Jammer's despite the the scent of raw fish,
or will it be the deciding factor for you to put your love affair to rest?

All I know is, I like my bar the way I like my country; red striped and full of stars...

Cheers!

Besides its only a matter of time before these two groups kiss, make up, join forces & continue their quest for college bar night domination.

White Jeans & A Man Named Bobby

So, people went to Bobby G's last Tuesday night, but I didn't blog about it or anything because I thought it was just another fundraiser type (typed PIKE by accident at first) deal. Then when I got an event invitation for Bobby G's Tonight I thought, "Did Bobby G's Tuesday's become a thing?" I guess it has because tonight marks the beginning of...

"Bobby Gs Club Life WHITE JEANS College Invasion Tour"
(when copying that title, I hit control question mark by accident. Fruedian slips left & right tonight)

Based on the event page, it appears there is going to be a DJ battle of some sort going on...
But I guess if you don't have any work to do get down to Bobby G's to get your Tidal Wave on, and show support to our beloved DJ White Jeans and his worthy opponent

Don't forget your $2.00 for the cover! Or you could wear white jeans and get in free
Only issue with that is Labor Day passed weeks ago.
You can use your own judgement on that one.

Don't Forget to Follow @JeansWHITE on Twitter!

For the sake of fashion don't wear white jeans and pay the two freaking dollars. You'll thank me laaaaterrrrrrr..

Let's Recap On..

TIESTO
& Porter Robinson

I truly can't even form words about last night. Mostly because my brain is mush...
So for this post, I'm just going to let the video do the talking...

And then we hung out, ripped shots of Jagermeister and played a couple rounds of beer pong.
Not to brag or anything....

So Tiesto is coming tomorrow

And my question is, are we even Fu*king ready?

Because I really don't think we are.
And not only do i think we aren't ready, I don't think the school is ready.
Like, what even is the campus staff/facility/whoever going to to do
when they have upwards to 5,000 students just rolling around campus?!

Last year for the Wiz Khalifa concert, I joked about how many people were going to end up in the hospital. But with Tiesto we are now on totally different spectrums of epic.

And it isn't even because Tiesto is so good
(because from a personal stand point he isn't all that live
It's only because everyone is like,
"Oh my god Tiesto is in fucking Rhode Island!
Lets consume massive amounts of everything & just see how out of hand it can possibly get."
Which I am all for, don't get me wrong...

So while you're anxiously awaiting tomorrow check out the video below from the first show of Tiesto's College Invasion Tour at Syracuse

So get your neon ready & I'll see you tomorrow night.
FYI: I will be ready equip to video..Leggo

Now gimme that Porter Robinson..

Wednesday, Wednesday, Everybody Loves Wednesday

"Get Your Clam Jammed"   "Getting my Clam Jammed so hard later"  "Jamming Clams Tonight!"

So incase you were absent from Facebook today, let me clue you in.
This Hump Day everyones getting their Clam Jammed
..dirty

CLAM JAMMERS
(A taste of last week)

Last week's Clam Jammers' was rowdy as hell. And hot as it too.
The bar was packed, girls were dancing on tables all over, the dance floor was wild,
and DJ RT & RJ were killing it.
So basically it was the way we like it.

My only complaint (aside from the fact that it reeks like raw dirty fish over there) was that getting a drink took about an hour. But the word is that they're opening up other bar & sticking another beer girl somewhere. So now it will only take you like a half hour to get a drink.

So get yourself down to Galilee and don't leave your Pre-game too late or you will be standing outside breathing in that clam jammed air.
yumm..

To take videos tonight, or not to take videos tonight? That is the question..

Welcome Back

It's official; School is back in session.

And so are the parties. I don't know about you guy's but my weekend was a blur. I think my last solid memory from Friday night was cutting about 40 people to get into Coast Guard House. Kind of felt bad, but not really. I wonder if it is just CGH that is cracking down on ID's, or if it's going to be every bar. Either or, it may not be such a bad thing because the bouncers are being more selective about who they are letting in. Separating the Grenades from the Bombshells, if you will..

(couldn't function behind a camera this weekend. i'll be more diligent this week)

As the first post of the Semester I want to keep it short and sweet and just say overall,
I'm feeling good vibes for Fall 2011.
The bar line-up seems to have expanded past Rhody Joe's (hallelujah) & we have some pretty sick houses on the map.

Just as a little something to think about while you're in class this week..
This coming Saturday is the return of Red Stripe..
Post Coming Soon...

Let's Recap On..

The 4th of July
Hello, Good morning.

Now, if you were on BLOCK ISLAND, for the 4th of July then you already know..
Or, you don't know because you blacked out on the ferry.
Regardless, let's break it down.

And that was only just the ferry. Cause let's be honest, the survival rate of my camera on the beach is not high. I was either going to drop it, break it, or it was going in the ocean. I opted for D. None of the above and kept its in it's case.

But to sum it up, shit was sloppy. What else can you expect when bottles of champagne (as shown above) are being chugged at 10am? Not to mention there was a bar ON the ferry. Talk about genius.

America, baby.
Only the Strong Survive.

If you didn't protect your cooler, you we're screwed. And if you took beer from anyone elses cooler, you were even more screwed. Ask the chick who tried to steal out of my friends cooler.
She did not have as great of a day as everyone else.
(she got kicked in the face and ate sand, then came back for Round 2 and tripped over herself to eat some more sand).

But by far, the best part of the day was when some drunk lady was strolling down the beach yelling
"THIS IS NOT THE JERSEY SHORE! Go Home!"

Not that far off if you ask me..

The Day Party

The Day Party
What they mean when they talk about;
The American Dream
A warm sunny day, your friends, a cold beverage, and some good music is all you need to Darty.

And for those those that don't know..
Darty = Day + Party
Dage= Day + Rage

boom.

Dartying is the epitome of Spring Fever.
Like Today for example. Finals are here and we all should be in the library. But Coast Guard was last night and everyone woke up to a beautiful day. Thanks to some of last nights alcohol still in your system, your best reasoning decides the only to spend the day is daging. Cause, I mean, afterall..
"That final isn't until monday, right?"

I think my phone is ringing right now...

"Hello?"
"What are you doing?"
"About to head to the library.."
"Nope, Greene Lane Block Party"
"Oh."
"Yeah, that's what I thought. See you in 30."
"Dageeeeeeeeee."

It's That Time Again

Coast Guard House

My Coast Guard obsession began during the Fall of 2010.
It gave my friends and I the best of times and the worst of times, which often turned out to still be the best of times.

Coast Guard House has an uncanny ability to cater to whatever you're feeling that night.
If you're opting for a chill evening, you can spend your night on the deck enjoying drinks & casual conversation with your friends...

But if you're in the mood to rage all night the Anchor Room can definitely give you that.
(Example A)

When it closed for the season in October a serious void was left in all of our hearts.
We lived for the nights running through the streets of the Pier,
bouncing from house to house during the before & after hours of CGH

Thankfully it's that time of year again;
Let's bring it back to the Coast Guard House

See you tonight, old friend.

I'm so excited, I'm shocked I can type..

DAYGLOW hit Providence

The World's Largest Paint Party hit America's Smallest State

The two-day Sold Out event was heavily anticipated from the beginning of last semester. Starting in October there was so much word of mouth about it hitting Rhode Island, people were ecstatic. Then we heard it wasn't coming to Rhode Island anymore and was heading right past us to UMass Amhearst. But thankfully a few days later our name was re-added to the list and it was official.
Immediately Facebook & Twitter blew up with statuses galore about it. The day tickets went on sale people woke up at the crack of dawn to order their tickets online.

Incase you live under a rock, let me give you a brief rundown. It's unreal.
People dressed in all white, if they opt to wear clothing at all, and whip and flail paint at your friends and random strangers while simultaneously raging your face off to House music.
I can't give any more detail than that because it's truly something you need to experience for yourself.

It's the kind of thing you saw in a PG-13 movie during the 90's and thought to yourself,
"I wanna doooo that."

If you're local to NYC, DayGlow tour is hitting Hammerstein Ballroom May 26th

Social Experiment

So what happened was...
My friends & I managed to get tickets to last night's "My Dirty Valentine" Bus Trip at like 9 last night so naturally I stopped everything i was doing and got ready to go because who declines free tickets to party? Yeah, i thought so too.

When I say free tickets, I actually mean counterfit ones. And when I say counterfit, I mean this freshman entertainment company used red raffle tickets as their tickets.
Rookie mistake.

Anyway, we get on the bus and I immediately felt like I was in some weird social experiment. Not to be vainglorious or anything, but it was like someone put four red Mercedes in an over crowded parking lot of 1996 Honda Civic's. No offense if you drive one. The clincher was when my friend said:

"There's threesomes, some girl is puking out of the window, some guy is stripping and black boys are touching me.  What the ----?"

I can't make this up. I typed in my notepad occasionally so I wouldn't forget any of these crucial details.  When we finally got to Ultra Nightclub, I had to make sure I was in the right place because it actually looked like a WWE Smackdown. Bouncers man handling girls, guys getting snuffed, and chicks and guys snuffing each other. Had I paid, I would have been livid at that point, but I cheated the system so it was cool.

Regardless of all we encounter, we managed to make the best of it and have a good time. There was no wait at the bar, because we were the only 12 people with "Drinking Age Verified" bracelets. Naturally we ignored everyone and raged in a circle. I just hope the onlookers learned a valuable lesson in the ways of partying.

I was documenting..

Oh, and if anyone I forced to buy me a drink reads this, sorry that I'm persuasive... not really that sorry.

BUS TRIP FEATURES BOCO

BUS TRIP TONIGHT
ULTRA NIGHTCLUB
"My Dirty Valentine"
Music by DJ Doubletake...?

Mind you, I know nothing about this company, the DJ or anything like that. The only reason I'm suggesting people attend is because URI's very own "BoCo" is going to be preforming. He can thank me later for this plug, but seriously I would go just to watch Bobby. Click the link about for me details about the event tonight, regarding tickets and prices and what have you.

I unfortunately will not be attending because i have prior arrangements..
Let me know how it is, I guess?

I, in no way, created the term "My Dirty Valentine"
Just wanted to establish that..

Does Anyone Remember...

Bobby G's
Tidal Waves. Tidal Waves. Tidal Waves. Tidal Waves. Tidal Waves. Tidal Waves.

Do I have to say anymore?

So about the Bus Trip..

The Bus Trip to Level II has been "Postponed"
(i.e. cancelled)

Leaky pipes at Level II are to blame for this cancellation, but frankly I'm not mad.
The initial thought of a bus trip on a Wednesday sounded great, but as it was approaching more and more people were reconsidering attending and in the end, it's probably best for all parties involved.

With that being said, tickets will be refunded. RI College life suggests getting in touch with the person you purchased your ticket from & getting your money refunded

Now that there is no bus trip, I guess I have some work to do right now then, huh?
I'll get back to you...

PomPerry's

The former establishment we all loved Pompeii, has been reopened under the alias of Perry's & has been open for some time now. However, it will always be Pompeii in my mind, so I came up with something to suit this awkward in-between:
"Pom Perry's"
(Work with me here).

This again, is another RI College Life production, which i've come to notice,
guarantees an out-of-hand night. Just for the record, "out-of-hand" is a great thing.

Something about "PomPerry's" just makes people say:
"Yes, I will keep my tab open."
"Three consecutive jello shots? That sounds like a wonderful idea !"
"I thought you were driving home !"
"My boyfriend will never find out about this..."

And then in some cases, you wake up the next morning with a welt-like bruise the size of a football.

But that is a different story all together.

The point is, if you don't go to Perry's on a Friday, then you aren't doing anything in a 20 mile radius worth talking about.

Yes, you can keep my tab open...

URI Student Entertainment Committee Announces:

Wiz Khalifa
He'll be in the building like '"Real Estate"
champagne & paper planes

It's official; Mr. Taylor Gang himself is coming to the
Ryan Center on April 7th.

Ticket sales for URI students start at
10 o'clock am, Friday February 4th at the Ryan Center Box office for $20.
If you plan on going, be sure to get on line early, because there is no doubt in my mind
Wiz is going to sell out faster then Cudi . . & those we're gone in like three hours.
I'm also sure that April 7th is going to be a busy day for Absolut Smoke Shop.
Tickets for the general public start the following saturday; details listed below.

Wiz Khalifa's performance at the Ryan Center has potential to be epic. In the past year,
Wiz Khalifa has evolved from a small scale performer to a rap icon. I'm a little nervous for this concert, but  nerves don't even match my excitement. For Cudi's concert in the fall, there were supposedly "25" ambulances called to campus. This... we're talking WIZ KHALIFA.
People are going to go crazy.
If I had a dollar for every time I heard '"Jets" or "Taylor Gang" on this campus
I would be able to pay for this concert myself.

"If there's one thing i know, it's smoking & living large."

Ugh, I'm just trying to get this dude to come to the after party.
Now that, would be epic.

Special Event: BUS TRIP

February 9th

RI College Life has booked their first Bus Trip of Spring 2011.

700 Tickets are available purchase and will be on sale as of Monday, January 31st for $20.00; a pretty low price for transportation there and back, as well as club admission.
This is one bus trip, you do not want to miss. Buses will be picking up and dropping off students on Campus & in Eastward.

This time, RI College Life is bringing us to Level II in Providence.

Level II has two rooms, two bars and multiple V.I.P. Sections. If you are interested in VIP, get 6 heads on a bottle of Belvedere, with mixers and chasers for a considerably low price. For more information, I've directly listed the event at the bottom. I will be posting additional information for this event as it gets closer regarding DJ's, specific pick up times and locations, and more!

Other companies do host bus trips for URI students,
but in my opinion RI College Life puts them on best.
The term "Bus Trip" makes me feel all giddy inside.
Let me tell you why in very simple terms:
THE BUS TRIPS ARE OUT OF CONTROL.
Be there to Kick off Spring 2011 right.
